OPERATION NO. 3 - BEVEL CROSSCUT
Bevel crosscutting is the process of sawing at 90 °
(square) across the width of a workpiece with the
saw blade set to an angle other than 90 ° to the table.
The radial arm and yoke are indexed at 0° and
locked securely in place. The bevel is set to the
desired angle of cut and locked. The workpiece
being cut is positioned and held firmly against the
fence and the carriage is pulled forward along the
radial arm just far enough to complete the cut. The
carriage should then be returned to the full rear
position and locked. Allow the saw blade to come to
a stop before removing the workpieces from the saw
table.
OPERATION NO. 4 -
COMPOUND CROSSCUT
Compound crosscut is the combination of miter and
bevel crosscut. The radial arm and the angle of the
blade are set to produce the desired cut - the yoke is
indexed at 0° and locked. The workpiece is posi-
tioned and held firmly against the fence and the
carriage is pulled forward along the radial arm just
far enough to complete the cut. The carriage should
then be returned to the full rear position and locked.
Allow the blade to come to a stop before removing
the workpieces from the saw table.
