How To Remove

The Traction Drive Belt

Ifthesnowthrowerwillnotmovefor-

ward,checkthetractiondrivebeltfor

wearordamage.Ifthetractiondrive

beltiswornordamaged,replacethe

beltasfollows.

1.Disconnectthesparkplugwire.

plate isproperlysecured(see

Figure29).

Removetheaugerdrivebelt.See

"HowToRemoveTheAugerDrive

Belt"intheServiceAndAdjustment

section.

Removethee-ring fromoneendof

theswing plate axle rod. Remove

theswing plate axlerodtoallow

theswingplatetopivotforward(see

Figure28).

4.Removethetraction drive spring.

Removetheoldtraction drive belt

fromthetractiondrivepulley and

fromtheenginepulley. Replace

thetractiondrivebeltwithanorigi-

nalequipmentreplacementbelt

availablefromaSearsservicecen-

ter.

6.installthenewtractiondrivebelt

ontothetractiondrivepulleyand

ontoenginepulley.

7.Makesurethetractiondriveidler

pulleyisproperlyalignedwiththe

tractiondrivebelt.

8.Attachthetractiondrive spring.

9.Installtheswingplate axlerodand

securewiththee-ringremoved

earlier,

10.Thebottomoftheswingplate must

bepositionedbetweenthealign-

menttabs.Makesuretheswing
